Howdy from HerdDogg!

This month, we visit with another beef ranch where we’re piloting our Animal Traceability Initiative.

After last month’s focus on Wyoming, today we head south to Acres of Grace in Tennessee to a beautiful beef ranch located in Red Boiling Springs, where Dr. Nick Patterson and his team are rearing fullblood Akaushi.

In partnership with AgLaunch, a local agtech accelerator, we are on a mission to connect consumers with locally grown, sustainably raised products of the highest quality.

Make sure you watch the beautiful video!
And thank you for interest in HerdDogg.

Warmest regards,

HerdDogg connects Acres of Grace  with its customers

There are two crucial characteristics that make Dr. Nick Patterson a perfect partner for our Animal Traceability Initiative: he’s both a veterinarian and a self-proclaimed data nerd.

Nick points out that, while data has been gathering momentum in crop farming, until now it’s just not been available for cattle. He wants to change that by shifting his operations from “assuming” to “knowing.”

“We’re really excited about the opportunity to show how traceability can help improve overall insight into the animal’s health and well being, as well as the consumer’s insight into where that food came from,” says Nick.

By working with HerdDogg, Nick can both capture and share individual animal data about its activity, management, and breeding — from its time on the farm and all the way into the retail channel. Nick’s vision: his customers will scan a QR code at retail to instantly learn all about the product he’s carefully nurtured.

For Nick, it’s the future of cattle farming: “This changes the eating experience for consumers by connecting them with the rancher—putting a face to a name—and becoming more comfortable about where their food comes from.”
